Cookie Policy

What ProPera Legal® keeps in your browser, why it is there, and how to remove it.
THE SHORT VERSION
Two analytics cookies, and nothing else.
Version
COOKIES-2026-08-11-v2
◆
Effective August 11, 2026
We set no cookies of our own. The only two on this site belong to Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people visit, and they are set only if you say yes when we ask. Everything that keeps you signed in and remembers how you left the app is held in your browser’s own storage, where it stays on your device. We run no advertising cookies, nobody tracks you across other websites, and nothing you write here is ever placed in a cookie or sent to an analytics provider.
THE DETAIL
Everything we store, item by item.
1. What This Policy Covers
This policy covers cookies and every other way ProPera Legal stores small amounts of information in your browser. A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Browsers also offer local storage and session storage, which do much the same job by a different name. We rely far more on those two than on cookies, so this policy covers all three.
It explains what is stored, why, how long it stays, and how to remove it. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal information more broadly.
2. The Only Cookies on This Site
ProPera Legal sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies stored when you visit properalegal.org belong to Google Analytics, which we use to see which pages people visit and how they found us. There are two of them.
_ga
Google Analytics. Tells one returning visitor apart from another so that visits can be counted.
STORED FOR
2 years
_ga_9BQLHXM1B6
Google Analytics. Keeps track of a single visit to the site.
STORED FOR
2 years
Neither is needed for anything on the site to work. Analytics is the one thing here you can switch off and lose nothing, and section 7 explains how.
We run no advertising cookies and no advertising pixels, we do not allow anyone to track you across other websites, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. Keeping You Signed In
Your sign-in session is held in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie. It is what keeps you signed in as you move from page to page.
propera-auth-token
Your signed-in session. Without it you would have to log in again on every page.
STORED FOR
Until you sign out. If you clear "Remember me" when logging in, it is discarded the moment you close the tab instead
propera-auth-store
A note of whether you are signed in, so the app can draw the right screen before it finishes checking.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
authRedirect
The page you were trying to reach, so that signing in returns you there instead of dropping you on the dashboard.
STORED FOR
Cleared when you close the tab
These are strictly necessary. If you block browser storage for this site, you will not be able to sign in.
4. Your Account Details and Preferences
Once you are signed in we keep a copy of some information on your device so the app can show it immediately instead of asking our servers again on every screen. All of it stays on your device and none of it is shared with anyone.
account-store
A copy of your own account details, which can include your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. This is the same information you entered on your profile.
STORED FOR
Until you sign out or clear your browser storage
propera-preferences-v1
Light or dark mode, window size, sidebar state, and which guided tours you have already seen.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
user-preferences-store
Small interface details such as your initials for the avatar, your referral code, and which panels you left open.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
propera-recently-viewed-v1
Which records you opened most recently, so your dashboard can offer them again. It stores their reference numbers, not their contents.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
propera-collapsed-sections-v1
Which sections of a record you last left collapsed or expanded.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
bad-actor-complaint-store
A list of the registry complaints you have submitted, so the registry loads without refetching them.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
i18nextLng
Whether you are reading the site in English or Spanish.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
registry-filters-expanded, registry-sort-method
How you last filtered and sorted the court misconduct registry.
STORED FOR
Until you clear your browser storage
propera-legal_session_status and related keys
A heartbeat that lets us tell an ordinary tab close apart from a crash, so we can find and fix crashes. It records the page address and a timestamp.
STORED FOR
Cleared when you close the tab
5. Other Services That Run on Our Pages
A few parts of the site are provided by other companies. Where they store anything, it is governed by their policy rather than ours.
◆
Google Analytics sets the two cookies described in section 2. It receives the address of each page you visit, along with your city, your browser, and your device type. We strip sign-in tokens out of the address before it goes.
◆
Google sign-in powers the "Continue with Google" button. Choosing it sends you to Google, where Google sets its own cookies on its own domain. It sets none here.
◆
GiveButter provides our donation widget. Its script loads on every page rather than only on the donate page, so GiveButter can see that a visit happened, and it may store information of its own once you use the widget to give.
◆
Sentry receives a report when something in the app breaks. It sets no cookies and records no video of your screen.
◆
Google Fonts serves the typefaces the site is set in. It sets no cookie, but because your browser fetches the files from Google, Google sees your network address and browser on every page load, including inside the signed-in workspace. We are moving these files onto our own servers to stop that.
Payments never happen on this site, so Stripe sets no cookie here. When you start a membership or manage your billing, we send you to a page hosted by Stripe. Anything Stripe stores is set on Stripe’s own domain while you are there, and your card details never touch our site.
6. What Is Never Stored or Shared
The documents you write here never go into a cookie and never reach an analytics provider. Your pleadings, evidence, case details, and party names are sensitive legal material and we treat them that way. They live in your account on our servers, not in your browser’s cookie jar, and they are not sent to Google, GiveButter, Sentry, or anyone else named in this policy. Treating them carefully is not the same thing as a legal privilege: we are not your lawyers, so the attorney-client privilege does not apply to what you keep here. Our Terms of Service explains that in full.
Our crash reporting is built to the same rule. When something fails we record what broke and which record it happened on, identified only by its internal reference number, never by the words you wrote.
One thing worth naming plainly: because Google Analytics receives the address of each page you visit, it can see that somebody opened a page in your workspace and the reference number in that address. It never receives the document itself, your name, or your email.
Google Analytics is also configured so that none of this is joined to Google’s advertising profiles. The setting that would allow that association is switched off, and we have no advertising account linked to it.
7. How to Control or Remove Any of This
What stays on your device is yours to control, and you have several ways to do it:
◆
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and site data. Look under Privacy or Site Settings in your browser preferences, where you can act on this site alone or on all sites.
◆
Google publishes a browser add-on that turns Google Analytics off on every site you visit, linked in section 8.
◆
A private or incognito window discards everything from this site as soon as you close it.
◆
Blocking the analytics cookies changes nothing about how ProPera Legal works for you. Blocking all storage for this site will prevent you from signing in.
◆
Signing out clears your session, and clearing your browser storage for this site removes the cached copy of your account details.
We ask before analytics loads, and nothing is set until you answer. The first time you open a public page you are asked whether we may count the visit. Decline and the two Google Analytics cookies are never set. Accept and you can change your mind later, from this page or by clearing this site’s storage in your browser. Nothing about the site works differently either way, and the question is never asked again once you have answered it.
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, or Do Not Track, we treat that as a no and never ask. You have already answered, and pestering you to reverse it would defeat the point of the signal.
Analytics is switched off inside the signed-in workspace no matter what you chose out here, because a page address in the app names the record you have open.
Nothing that keeps you signed in is optional in the same way. Those keys are what a working session is made of, so there is no version of the app that runs without them.
8. Policies of the Services We Use
The companies named here publish their own explanations of what they store:
◆
Google Analytics and Google sign-in: policies.google.com/privacy. The Google Analytics opt-out add-on is at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
◆
GiveButter: givebutter.com/privacy
◆
Stripe: stripe.com/privacy
◆
Supabase, who host our database and sign-in: supabase.com/privacy
◆
Sentry, who receive our crash reports: sentry.io/privacy
9. Changes to This Policy
If we add a service that stores something new, or stop using one named here, we will update this page and move the date at the top. It is worth a fresh read whenever you notice that date has changed.
