What the software does with your documents, and where its job ends.
Does ProPera Legal® give legal advice?
No, and it cannot. Nobody here is a lawyer. The software formats and organizes what you write; it does not decide what you should say, what you should file, or whether an argument will work. Those are questions for a licensed attorney in your state, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let you find out later.
What types of documents can I prepare?
You can write pleadings and motions in plain language and have them laid out on numbered pleading paper, organize evidence into a labeled exhibit set, keep court forms and hearings together with the case they belong to, and assemble the whole thing into one packet you can download. The words in the document are yours.
How do I file documents with the court?
You file them yourself. ProPera Legal® does not transmit anything to a court, does not e-file on your behalf, and does not serve anyone. When your packet is ready you download it, and everything after that, including how and when it is filed and served, is yours to do. Filing rules and deadlines vary by court, so check your court's requirements.
Can someone help me use it?
Yes. Advocates can help you operate the software, organize your files, and format what you have written, for an hourly fee. If a disability makes the platform hard to use, that help is free. Advocates are not attorneys and cannot advise you on your case.
